Summer Jams (Response to Andrew's Post)

I hate music. Well, I don't hate it but I hate how empowered and cool people think they are by knowing a lot about it. That's why I pretty much took the route of listening to Fun 107.1 and 92.3 Pro FM pretty much strictly. Right now I could listen to all of these songs for the rest of the summer and be content.

Plus one more old one.

Teenage Dream

No regrets. Check.
Dance until death. Check.
Be young forever. Check.

It's official: Teenage Dream is the best song ever. Or at least the best song of this summer.

Words about Greenside Skatepark From Tony Long

"The guys running the new Greenside Skatepark down in Middletown RI. Are
having a trial BMX night on August 3 from 6-9 pm. I guess they are going
to decide how much (if any) bmx sessions they are going to have per
week by how many people turnout for this session. We need to round up the troops and show up in force so they know it's worth it for them not deny us bikers. Spread the word thanks TL."

And some from me. I know it's a beautiful summer day in New England right now but if you can make it out to this, do it. Maybe Southern New England will have a good meeting spot for the winter. I know we have the Taunton park, but I'm thinking more along the lines of Skater's Island Tuesday nights circa 2003. I had some good times then! This place is even in Middletown!

Photos

There are two posts from the trip up in the photo blog. I shot a bunch of stuff but most will be in Holeshot. This photo of Cubby was made possible by stealing his Pocketwizards to test out the G9's capabilities. Not bad, though I still don't like flashes ha.

Full Bleed

Here Epicly Later'd Host, Patrick O'Dell, discusses the history of New York City Skateboarding photography with the people who brought it to you in this promo for Vice's new book, Full Bleed. It's a great way to kill that time on a rainy weekend and also a great reminder that natural light is the best light for BMX and skate photography.

Anti-Bummer Summer

Sorry for lack of content on the web, been busy swimming and avoiding high temps. AKA having an anti-bummer summer. Riley McMaster does that all the time and made this real sick zine about it. Not sure how to get a copy but he's got this great blog which kind of works in the same way. There's so much embarrassing American stuff in there, it's crazy (see above). Check it out and see if you can contact him for a copy of his rare zine.

Issue 8 will be done at the end of the summer. Gypsy caravan Holeshot section is done. Email me if you wanna see it pre release. See you soon.

Stoked!

Thanks to Dom for this one! Now I know who got the vanity plate I was looking for.

Finally watched this flick lastnight and I must say it was pretty amazing. I know I am pretty late on this (by about 5 years) but if you still haven't seen it I highly recommend doing so. Such a crazy story. Have a good and safe weekend! if you live in Rhode Island go buy some roman candles or some shit, they're legal now (sort of)!
