Subscribe!!!

We're gonna keep this thing going at least for three more issues. Feel free to throw in a subscription order over at the store. You even get a free koozie (US only, sorry shipping sucks). Please indicate which issue you would like to begin with, either 6 or 7. And just so you know, if you subscribed before, it's time to renew. Also, once issue 7 is out, there will be no more subscriptions, in case this thing folds or we get sick of doing it. I don't wanna run off with your $$$ or anything. So do what you can and get the next three issues of Holeshot delivered to your door for only 10 bucks (16 international)!

And Holeshot does have a designated Facebook page now. Become a fan here. It's almost like Holeshot having twitter or whatever. Thanks!

Holeshot 1987

I honestly can not remember if I've posted these videos before but I think even if I did, I'm down for a rewatch.

Over-rotated 540 at 1:18 is amazing. Peep his interview on Defgrip here.

The alley-oops are too good.

Foghorns at the peak of Carlo Griggs's airs are reminiscent of this.

A Few Things.

Issue 7 is heavily in the works now with contributors that come from all over the world. It's shaping up to be a good one and I am also going to offer subscriptions for three issues to help cover the costs of printing, shirts, and hats. Look for more information on issue 7 when it is done. Hype has proved to be the worst thing ever.

Amigos 002 Hands Wide Open by Dylan Goettlich

AMIGOS! Feel free to order a copy of one of the two AMIGOS Publications available here. Vinny rides BMX if you care about that sort of thing.

Oh and there's a little box in the bottom right hand corner. Follow Holeshot in your google reader, it's probably the closest we'll get to twitter. Even Ed Koenning is doing it.

More From House of Steam

The House of Steam seems to archive some great older (and newer) skate stuff. A lot of it seems to be from Jersey too. This video is pretty awesome though, it reminds me of this ramp that was in Taunton at this guy's house. Looking back, I can't believe I don't have photos from it but basically it was an 8-10 foot tall vert ramp complete with roll-ins and duct tape covering the weathered holes. He also had jumps out back, all tabletops, with pot plants growing out of the sides of them. You used to have to dodge these huge dogs riding to his house. Randomly, this guy my dad worked with, Billy Denson, used to ride there too, although I never saw him there. On the side he gave tattoos and gave my dad and some of his friends tattoos at my house when I was probably 13 or so. One time, me, Mike Ellis, my Dad, and Billy Denson, went to Impact and he did some of the best dogpiss airs wearing steel-toe construction boots on an all chrome Lenghty. In fact, his bike graced the cover of Issue 2.
lengthy copy
That's it.

Gadsden Alabama?

Lost Skatepark? Turn the music down by the way.

Prevent This Tragedy

I know that shoelace belts are "stylish" but c'mon, that looks like a man thong! I guess there's not anything wrong with guys wearing thongs, but just like when females wear 'em, keep em tucked away or else you'll look like Manny Santos having an identity crisis on Degrassi.

Go!

In other news, there is none.

Grimaldo

Props 47 Commercial from Animal Bikes on Vimeo.

Yesterday in my cabin fever haze I watched a few BMX videos. Besides some local flavas, I also threw in the first Animal flick and I rekindled my love affair with Grimaldo Duran. Grimaldo embodies everything that is cool about riding bikes. He goes fast, bunnyhops high, throws weird tricks in, and still keeps it semi-normal with, dare I say, some of the best one-footed tabletops ever?

The Shit Show, T-1000's, and More Kona

The Shit Show with Kenny Horton from Least Most on Vimeo.

Kenny is for sure an absolute beast but a complete southern gentleman at the same time. It works, somehow. If you haven't seen these two plus minutes of his shit show, then watch it. What are you waiting for? It beats half of the videos I reviewed in 10 words or less over on The Least Most.

Also, the Odyssey T-1000 rim meant a lot to me growing up. One of the rims I owned has also taken a wild ride over the past 12 years. Check out who it belonged to, where it's been, and why it all came about on the ESPN blog.

And one more KONA thing. It's a doubles run featuring your new favorite rider, Hennessey and your favorite low budget BMX zine editor, working on our fastplants.

And Eric's handy-cam work too.

CUBAN LINX

Just updated the dropdown links with some new friends and ones I just kind of slacked on putting on...ooops. Go see what some of the friends of Holeshot are up to. Friends like Zach and Kyle from Third Arm Shovel. Or Bob and Christian at JNKFD. Maybe even Lino and crew at 90east. Do it, you won't.

Ryan Lay, Non-Spots, Tee Shirts, and Jon Ivers!

Ryan Lay from Rasa Libre on Vimeo.

While I am not entirely sure what the "essence of freedom" is, I am sure that Ryan Lay skateboarding at this school is pure butta balls. I love one spot videos. Actually I just really like spots. Check out this post I did about non-spots over on The Least Most.
On the subject of Tee-Shirts, I think I might get some more made. I was thinking of resurrecting the pocket-tee in black with maybe some weird rainbow-roll, a la a Mr Zog's Sex Wax shirt. I also want to run the shirt that was supposed to be the issue one Tee. Hopefully these will all be available with issue 7 which is in the works now.

I'm not going to play by their rules anymore!

I don't know if Phil saw his shadow or not but I do know that Groundhog Day, along with pretty much any movie Bill Murray is in, is awesome. I love the subtitles in this YouTube version.

Be sure to check out an interview I conducted with Holeshot contributor and Michigan legend, Ted Van Orman on ESPN. He's got some great things to say.

And if you happen to be in the Bay Area, be sure to check out Ice Cold's release party!
