Bro Hymn
Bro Hymn for Life. This is the last you will hear of this until completion (can't promise that) but there will be a Holeshot DVD and that song will be in it. More photos from Maul's Brawl here and a new zine, Strip Mall City available here. Some of you may remember the suburban fanzine Andrew Burton, Derek Aylward, Bob Lapesly, and myself made in 2004. This is issue 2.

Life On The Edge
I've never seen this on an actual TV but it's pretty awesome, obviously besides the Primus. The second part, the NYC section, is real sick. This flick reminds of why I'm tired of videos lately. From the over-hyping to the one-upping, I miss the days of just videos documenting what went on at the certain time. If it turned out to be legendary, fine, and if it turned out to just be what it was, also fine. Because of that my love affair with local videos will never die. I received a copy of a Memphis BMX video entitled "Straight Up Ghetto" the other day and it was awesome. ECD IV meets the South. Freestyle it. 540's on 10 foot tall quarterpipes that are on Dirt with more Rage Against The Machine than I'll probably ever want to hear again.
EDIT: I guess more videos like this is probably gonna be:

Sup Boston
Holeshot and other affiliated printed matter will have a table at the 2010 Boston Zine Fair which is taking place at the Cambridge YMCA. Unfortunately there's some music fest going on the same day, which I guess is cool, but in the grand scheme of things might be a bit much considering I'll be inside at a zine fair all day. If you're in the neighborhood, feel free to stop by the table and check out some stuff from Holeshot/Amigos/GirlTalk.

RIP Volcanoes.

This is awesome and LIFE? is even better these days with even more web loggers. Peep it. Upper Peninsula cement spot. You have no idea. Speaking of the U.P., peep this New Yorker article on some real life psycho killer shit. Holla at me if you need a password.

2002 Probably 2003

A classic photo of Ryan Homer from the days when Holeshot was an even shittier zine, Communication?, and I probably had even less to worry about. There's so many things I love about this photo. The cigarette hangin out of Ryan's mouth, my old Marc Johnson Emerica's he has on, the fact that we scoped this thing out so hard and finally got to ride it while it was actually drained.
We either got to this spot in my wood paneled minivan listening to a boombox or in Ryan's white Chevy Blazer with plush seat covers listening to Pink Floyd or some shit. Regardless, we got to it. I probably went home and made a Tina's Burrito and drank a bunch of Coke while playing THPS2. Maybe I watched the first Animal video only to have to get up to go to school the next day.

I scanned some old slides the other day for issue 7, sorry for reminiscing.3.12.2010

New Zine "KONA"
Foot Clan
Poker, Cigars, Arcade games, and that weird skateboard ramp make me realize why I loved this scene so much as a kid. According to Wikipedia this flick came out in 1990, which would have made me 5. I didn't think I was so young when I was obsessed with skateboarding but between that movie, SK8 TV on Nickelodeon, and the family friend who had a quarterpipe with Bart Simpson spraypainted on it, I was hooked enough to convince my dad to buy me a NASH set-up at MVP Sports. If I'm not mistaken it was at MVP Sports in the Westgate Mall in Brockton MA. Of course a few years later I was pretty much over it and onto BMX.

Whatchu Know About That
Congrats

Greg Doliber pretty much did the sweetest thing you could have done at an indoor skatepark to win best trick at the Maul's Brawl. Then he even tried it Caveman style. More photos to come to da photo blog. No actual riding photos, more like photos of the HS crew drinking Busch in the parking lot then riding at Team Shed HQ.

Restless.
South of the Boredom Tour from Least Most on Vimeo.
This trip was super fun. I'm getting restless just watching it again. Maybe Cali next? Los Angeles sounds good and Santa Cruz is beautiful in the spring. Regardless, I shot some photos from the trip and there's a gallery over on ESPN. Give em a look if you got time. There's also going to be a bit from the trip in issue 7. Including this photo below.
. Some of the photos crossover but different audiences, know what I'm saying?
Somewhere between SF and SC 2007.

If you have to ask, you can't afford it.......
Not to sound too much like a snob, but why do so many companies attempt to make cassette hubs? It's never gunna sound half as sick as the one above. I've always wanted one of these but the MSRP on such a piece of upper-echelon-bmx-componetry has been outta my price range. My friend AL finally bit the bullet to ride the lightning.
